International Experience Canada
The International Experience Canada(IEC) is a travel and work program designed for applicants between 18 – 35 years old. A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is not required. This program is a great tool for individuals who'd like to experience working in Canada for a short period and should not be considered as a step to immigrating to Canada.
Eligible participants should note that:

Your country of citizenship must have an agreement with Canada that allows you to apply for an IEC work permit or
-
You may be able to use a recognized organization (RO) if you’re not from an IEC country
Depending on which country you’re from, you can choose from up to 1, 2, or 3 pools of travel and work experience:
Working Holiday Visa
Through this program, you can fund your vacation while temporarily working in Canada.

You don’t need a job offer *
-
You want to work for more than one employer in Canada
-
You want to work in more than one location
-
You’d like to earn some money while you travel
You would be issued an open work permit.
*- due to current travel restrictions, working holiday candidates will have to provide proof of a valid job offer to receive an invitation to apply for the 2021 season
Young Professionals
This program is for young professionals who’d like to gain Canadian work experience to better compete in a global economy.
To be eligible the following requirements need to be met:

You have a job offer that contributes to your professional development

The job offer must be NOC 0, A, or B
-
A NOC C job might be accepted if you can submit a post-secondary diploma, degree, or certificate
-
You’ll work for the same employer in the same location
-
The work must be paid and not self-employed either
You would be issued an employer-specific work permit.
How Does The Pool Work?
Your profile will stay in the pool until:

You receive an invitation to apply

We remove all profiles from the pool at the end of the season
-
You’re no longer eligible for IEC
Invitations to apply are issued in the following order:

International Co-op (Internship)
-
Young Professionals
-
Working Holiday
You can only have one IEC profile at any time; however, you can be eligible for more than one IEC pool.
If your profile is eligible for the International Co-op (Internship) and working holiday pool, you’ll receive an invitation to apply for an International Co-op category. You’ll only receive an invitation to apply for a working holiday work permit if there are no spots left in the International Co-op category.
